:) I think that the yarn, books, and CD exceptions are a good idea- think of them as rewards! I'm excited to see how you guys fare. Good luck!

I have been so busy lately that I basically stopped reading blogs...but yours is one I make sure to check frequently...and it's not only because I really enjoy seeing your amazing knitting, and your thought processes on that front, but it's also because of posts like this one. It's refreshing to see your concern and commitment and I wish you luck with your 6 month challenge. Clothes aren't an issue for me...I tend to wear few items and wear until they fall apart around me (it's easy when you spend most of your time in the woods)! But I'm with you on books and CD's and have made an effort to only buy music online and to frequent the library more often instead of buying books. Some I can't resist--you know, those ones you'll read and enjoy over and over again and thrust on every family member, friend, husband etc! Restraint can be a struggle, no doubt about it!

I keep thinking we need to swap music suggestions but anytime I think to shoot a comment suggesting an artist, a new post comes up with that person as your 'listening to' (Brandi Carlile is my current obsession...and Eva Cassidy has such an amazing voice--tragic). Look forward to seeing your tunes each post!

Go you! I'm going to be more frugal in '08, particularly when it comes to purchasing yarn. Zero stash growth is my goal.

Good luck with your pledge. It is a very good idea.

I'm doing something similar in a much smaller way. I've been cleaning out and dontaing things in good condition that can be reused. And I'm not replacing stuff I don't need. I plan for a much mroe frugal 2008.
