And feeling much more like myself after a couple days in the mountains.

Feeling more like myself

Being in the woods make me happy! We stayed in a cabin outside of the Boone area and met up with some friends on Saturday to hike Grandfather Mountain. Not too many scenery pictures as we got a lot of rain (but it sure didn’t ruin our time!) – There are a few more on Flickr, but here are a couple:

Not much for views

Uhhhh...

Tad says it’s time to put the camera away – we could hear the rain coming towards us! Thank goodness for rain gear!

Since it’s Tuesday though, and it’s been awhile since I’ve posted for Messy Tuesday…. How about some Messy Boots?

Trusty boots

These don’t have too many miles on them yet – I can’t wait until they’re old & beat up with the memories of this and lots of other hikes and camping trips scratched onto the toes and sides!

Sounds great! I’d love to know where you stayed in Boone, it sounds like something I’d love to do when my family is in town!

    Looks like a great hike!

Your photo reminded me of when our kids were small and we’d take them on long long hikes. The water packs with tubes were a really exciting incentive for them, and when they ran out of their own, which they always did, they’d come and drink from ours. It felt like having a baby deer suckling – very cute!

I think of shoes in just the same way – clean sneakers/hiking boots/whatever just creep me out.

There’s nothing better to clear one’s head than walking into the woods in my opinion. I’m glad that despite the rain, you guys still had a good time and the trip had the effect you needed! sshhh…I have new hiking books too this year…my old ones needed to be retired. Desperately. And I can’t wait to get that wear you are referring to on them!
