Handmade

Posted on | December 4, 2008 | 7 Comments

I had written this disjointed and rambling post about thoughtful purchasing and consumer guilt, loosely connected with the holidays…. You know what? Scrap that. It’s on my brain a lot, I know it’s on many of yours a lot. No matter how much I overthink or try to justify this item – the bottom line is this: The only thing I feel guilty about is the shipping. And I decided it was worth it!

Sew-Mad Needle Roll Pockets

This needle roll avoided the purchase of something that I wouldn’t be happy with and would get rid of (the plastic case recommended for and shipped with full sets). It’s skillfully handmade by a talented seamstress. It’s protective storage that will be used and loved for many many years, and it has some lovely memories and associations because it came from Katrin (check out her other beautiful rolls here). We also worked out a trade, you don’t get much more perfect than that….

Sew-Mad Travel Roll

except that it does, because she also included a travel size in another beautiful print to take in my handbag with me. Awesome. Sigh.

Katrin, you’re wonderful, Thank you so much!

P.S. Speaking of handmade…. I’ll be back with an FO. Seriously. I can scarcely believe it myself.

Those are awesome!!! For Christmas we are putting together little baskets (that we bought at the thrift store) and filling them with our homemade jams, handmade soaps and some washcloths I knit with organic cotton/bamboo. Should be fun!

Beautiful (and love the little carry around one). I found one of these from an etsy seller that I bought and completely adore. Beautiful craftsmanship and I think the support of a fellow artisan was worth the ‘cost’ of shipping.

Earlier Shawn Colvin albums are my favorite…seeing this caused me to pull out Steady On…my first introduction and still my favorite of her albums.
