Reminder

What a week. Things have been busy my friends, busy is manageable though. But just in case I should happen to get caught up in the busy-ness and begin to lose sight of the important things that I’ve learned about myself and what is truly important in my life… Just in case I should be at risk of losing a bit of my pretty hard earned perspective… There are some mysterious forces at work that saw fit to give me a reminder recently… And just to add a taste of humor to the situation (sick humor though it may be), the timing was all too ironic. I’m here, I’m paying attention, I get it (and I’m ok).
I don’t mean to be cryptic. Wait, that’s not really true. Actually I do mean to be cryptic, but not intentionally intriguing or curiousity-piqueing or whatever the hell it is that I’m trying to say. Sorry y’all, it is hard to define these online boundaries sometimes (especially when I have trouble defining them in some of my personal relationships as well. I am possibly too private and protective in some situations as I was recently informed). But there are some things I need to write about to help me process – even if in roundabout terms. And I want this little poke in the ribs here for when I start to let those not-so-important things get in the way.
So, listen up – I’m sharing this reminder with you.
If you have your health, be so glad for it, and do your very best to protect it in every way necessary. It is sacred and you are worth the effort. Those things that are beyond your control (and I mean that in the most literal sense – getting hit by a bus is beyond your control if you looked both ways. Genetic diseases are beyond your control. These damn dehydration headaches? Completely in my control – as well as completely irrelevant), it’s best not spend time worrying over the uncontrollables, unless you are given a strong reason to do so. Better still that your loved ones are also well. Any anger or frustration you may have felt recently? Not worth it, ok? Figure it out and deal with it, or let it go and move on. Hold these people you care about tightly. Because you never know what’s coming next. That is all.
Have a happy weekend – I certainly plan to!

Thanks for this, Mel. It’s good to be reminded about how few things there are that really matter. Health is definitely one of them.

Wow, I could’ve written this, or partially written this. I’ve had headaches all week and been very cranky as a result – it could very well be dehydration. Hope you’re feeling better soon and yes – have a wonderful weekend!

Hear Hear! Thank you – all too true. Met someone this week who had an unimaginable tragedy out of her control and was so impressed with the control she is taking over the things she can now.
And PS – Float and I are up to attempt #4 – PMS and lace don’t mix!

Absolutely! I totally agree. We try to take a few minutes everyday to just be thankful for where we are on our path. And those dang dehydration headaches – I get them too!! i have been REALLY making a better effort on the water thing lately – amazing how much better it makes you feel!
