Spring!

Posted on | March 20, 2009 | 9 Comments

I’ve awoken from a sleep or something (Hey! Nice to see you again!) to find that spring has sprung in North Carolina – My favorite season here. In fact, for me, Spring in NC rivals Autumn in New England. Everything comes alive again so early, first showing tiny glimpses here and there, then all of a sudden, and all at once, it’s beautiful outside and it seems like EVERYthing is blooming. The best part is, it lasts awhile. In New Hampshire – If I blinked I might miss the most gorgeous red-gold colors. In North Carolina, if I blink I might miss the daffodils (and it seems that I did – damn it!), but I won’t miss my pear tree, or the jessamine, the wisteria or clematis, That Spring Smell or the first baby leaves and the green-ness of the grass after too much rain, or at least not all of them.

Spring!

For my more northerly friends, please forgive me, by revelling I am not meaning to rub your nose in it (I can hear my father’s voice & a few choice words as I believe there may still be ice on the lake for some time now), and you have full license to wave your foliage photos in my face come October. And maybe I will come and visit! I do miss it – Autumn in New England really is my favoritest of the favorite. But this, now, is pretty darn amazing.

There has been knitting, and there has been planting, and there’s even been the tiniest smidge of spinning (yes, 15 minutes at the wheel is notable these days, if not picture worthy!) But for today… Happy Friday if you’re on that sort of schedule, Happy Day in general if you aren’t – And Happy SPRING – I hope you all are well!

Ah, spring in North Carolina. I miss it. It’s the only place I’ve ever lived where spring was accompanied by actual blooming trees. In Wisconsin, by contrast, we got another inch of snow last night. Blast!

Ah, it’s ok, I’m not jealous. It’s just heightening the anticipation for about one month from now :)

Here on the northern Pacific coast we’ve got a while to wait. Just crocuses so far, and those are terrified and stunted.

    Happy Spring to you too!
Go ahead and flash those pretty photos of blooming trees. For now I will live vicariously through your lovely early spring. We’ve got another month or so to go before we see such displays.

Okay, I won’t begrudge you your spring even though as I type it is snowing very heavily outside! :) Lovely photo…keep them coming! It brightens my mood to see spring…if only through pictures right now!

Happy Spring to you to! Here in London we’re in the middle of spring sunshine (but mostly showers). Every year I am surprised by how much HAPPIER I feel when the sun comes out again after winter, even though I’m never aware of feeling down in the winter!
