Happy Things

Despite that last melancholy post it has been a really wonderful week. So let’s balance things out a bit, shall we?

A brand new human joined our family on Wednesday! Wow – Babies give me SO MUCH HOPE. Our sweet AB has a brother now, and Tad & I have a nephew – very exciting!! Of course, there will be knitting, but I’ve decided after the last fiasco that I’m adopting Rachel’s viewpoint on knitting for little ones. Toys! Toys are always right on time and always a perfect fit. LT, welcome little one, it’s a beautiful world. We cannot wait to finally meet you.

Made travel arrangements to visit my awesome big brother in SF this summer – Yay! It’s really going to happen! The last time we were going to visit him, he was in Armenia. And well… Shit happened (um, literally…) But this time, it’s official, we’re going!! And the furry kids have been (relatively) stable for a good while and have a super-awesome place to stay while we’re gone, so they will be very well cared for. I’m almost scared to ask what could go wrong? (Don’t say it, Don’t say it!!)

A WIP that’s nearing completion after months of stagnation:

Very Belated Mystery Sock!

Very belated Mystery Socks!

You must see this! Eva in Sweden knitted the most awesome RAINBOW Float (Rav-Link) using Kauni Lace yarn! Inspired! Of course I am biased toward this pattern, but seeing this and her sweet words was a very happy-making thing.

And this, because it’s wonderful. Seriously. Thanks Tad, I needed that. For more great links, check out the far sidebar pleese. More must sees!

Counting down to NOJazzfest roadtrip with Heather & Cat. Perhaps the awesomest, slightly spur of the moment, hey, this could work, decisions ever. Besides moving to North Carolina. Because my definition of spur of the moment clearly involves weeks or possibly a month rather than minutes.

And since we’re talking about music, new Silversun Pickups this week!

Finally, time yesterday with some of our favorite people on the planet.

:)

Life is good, you know? Hard sometimes, but that is all part of it, right? Thank you for all your kindness this week, it means an awful lot. I hope you have had a really wonderful week too!

Your knitting is beautiful. I am working on the float stole now. I am using a silk yarn and it is slow-going, but nice. I am not a fast knitter, so this will last a while, I am sure. I can’t wait to get to the pleat. You are very talented! Thanks for all your hard work on a great pattern.

Oh, congratulations on your new nephew! I just discovered that I’ll be a step-grandma by Christmas (yay!), and my thoughts have turned to knitting too. Toys are a fabulous idea!

Glad to see that you have happy things to report in your going-ons. (is that a southernism or just a rachelism?). So exciting that you have a healthy new nephew…I do believe an Elijah is in order!

Can’t wait to see the finished mystery socks…so far they look great and I love the color you chose for them. Eloquent is the word that comes to mind when I see white/pale socks with intricate patterns!

Here’s hoping for more wonderful weeks!

Hey, Mel. You’ve got lots of things going on. Mystery sock looks great. Looks like a fun pattern to knit. I just got back from the Big Easy. Didn’t get to stay for Jazz Fest, but the festivities had begun to start yesterday (when we left). You should have a nice time – eat some Beignets.
