Ocracoke

Another (belated) post-in-pictures – Ocracoke! We left directly after work on a Friday in June and just made the last ferry (11:30pm!) to the island for a weekend of music, biking, camping, family, great friends and great coffee – and knitting on the long car ride, of course!

Kate McNally, whom I could not find much information on, but what a beautiful voice!

Ocracoke is such a special place – We had a wonderful time, as we have on all our trips this spring (Oh! It’s summer now? Really??) – And are currently planning a “real” vacation (aka more than just a regular or long weekend!) to San Francisco at the end of August, we are so looking forward to it!

More updates to come (really!)

Wow, looks like you had a wonderful trip. Your photos really tell a story. My favorite is the one with the dreads.

So bummed you’ll be in SF after I’ve moved! Well, technically a year after I moved, but still. If you need any advice on things to see or places to eat, drop me a note!

You went to Ocracoke? And camped in the Nat’l Park Campground? That’s part of the fabric of my life – incredible. I grew up camping with my family and dogs there for two weeks every August – back when we started, all the campground had were pump cold showers (took two people) and port-o-potties. I just reconnected with the park ranger we met there in the 70s – he’s still there and in charge now. Mom and I sprinkled some of dad’s ashes on the campground beach last spring when we went down for an old family friend’s wedding.

Man – I would have driven down – you MUST tell me the next time you’re in the OBX – we’re there every weekend!!!

Incredible pics Mel. They really tell a story. I’m especially drawn to the shots of women playing music…you captured those so well. And the one with the dreads…fantastic capture! Looks like a blast…glad you had such a good time!
